People think we are a museum… or a gallery… or a charity… when in fact we are all three of these, and more!
The RBSA exists to support artists and promote their work.
As one of the oldest art societies and artist-led charities in the UK, the RBSA promotes engagement with the visual arts.
We are also an Accredited Museum, due to our extensive Archive and Permanent Collection. Our former presidents include Edward Burne-Jones and Lawrence Alma-Tadema!
Education is an important part of the Society’s activities. There’s an exciting programme of exhibitions, workshops, open events, and demonstrations throughout the year. You can drop in on a Saturday to see artists at work!
The Society also owns and runs the RBSA Gallery, a fully accessible exhibition space boasting three floors of beautiful art.
Admission to all our exhibitions is free and many of the works on show are for sale. We look forward to welcoming you to the Gallery.
Why not sign up to receive regular email updates from the RBSA?
Don’t miss our Charity Auction!
The RBSA Charity Auction takes place on November 20, 6.30pm at Deutsche Bank, 5 Brindleyplace, Birmingham B1 2BL. You can purchase your ticket for £10 by:
- Paying by cash in person at the Gallery
- Calling the Gallery on 0121 236 4353 to pay by card over the phone
- Sending a cheque in the post (payable to ‘RBSA’) to RBSA, 4 Brook St, Birmingham B3 1SA
- By paying via our website
The auction catalogue, with images and information about each artist and artworks can be downloaded from the RBSA website
Images of artworks can also be viewed at Flickr
You can view many current exhibitions online, with prices, at our Flickr page.
Nothing beats a visit in person, though, and we hope to welcome you soon. We are just off St Paul’s Square, near Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, a short walk or tram ride from the city centre.
If you want to make a purchase when you’ve looked around our exhibitions, we take a deposit or full payment at the gallery, and you can arrange to collect your work once the exhibition is over. If you can’t make it to an exhibition, call us on 0121 236 4353 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Visit the RBSA soon and see what original art you could be taking home…
Remember that booking is not required for our Saturday demonstrations, so feel free to drop by the Gallery on the day. For more details on all the events listed, and to find out about everything else going on at the RBSA, please take a look at the website.
